Kumbalangi Nights :- a simple tale of love and life which goes through the relationship between 4 brothers and people around them.

Kumbalangi Nights is a simple tale of love and life which goes through the relationship between 4 brothers and people around them.
As usual Fahad and Soubin are in their best form and Shane Nigam who has done sort of depressed characters in last few movies gets a fresh change here. The rest of the cast has also done their job perfectly. The film has many hilarious moments that go with the flow of the story. One such moment which takes place in the kitchen is something many people may try to do in the coming days😋.
The soul of this story is a set of relationships. The relations between a jobless young man and his love, a tourist and a local, a kind of psycho husband and wife, two sisters, four brothers and so on.

Coming to the crew behind this movie, the team Madhu C Narayan has got is extremely good. There are many night scenes in this movie and Shyju Khalid yet again captures night visuals flawlessly after Ee. Ma. Yau. Music by Sushin Shyam was calm and soothing and flows along with the movie.
Syam Pushkaran who has proved his writing skills many times is top notch here too. He has an ability to create grasping realistic stories from ordinary life. Madhu C Narayan had made his debut a remarkable one. This is one movie that has to be enjoyed with a light heart and lets you leave movie halls with pleasant thoughts.

One among the biggest hits in Malayalam industry and the question remains does it live it up to the hype. In order to answer that I really need to break my review into pieces so you make the decision if it fits you.

The movie revolves around few characters Shane Nigam, Soubin, Sreenath and Fahadh. You can't thread them into one chain as everyone has their own character arch. The movie starts and moves pretty slow for may be like 55 minutes for you to really start developing interest. It can give you feeling that you are watching an art movie when the movie progresses but when it picks up the pace it starts hitting all the right button. The story is set at Kumbalangi, a quiet island where people are poor and fishing is their main job.

Shane Nigam: He seems whacky yet adorable in his own way.
Soubin Shahir: He seems useless and good for nothing character who is jobless.
Sreenath Bhasi: A character who is mute but speaks through his actions.
Fahadh Faasil: Most confusing character among the lot as he tend to change every time he appears on screen.

Rest all the supporting cast especially female cast are perfectly cast and fit to the narrative. Every character what they seem from above or superficially are way beyond that and isn't that we all human are.

The rustic life captured in celluloid with best cinematography start teleporting you into that world even if you have never seen or heard of such place. Though, crossing 45 to 55 minutes of runtime is a task as you may start losing interest as you don't know where are you being taken, hold on, it is taking you for a beautiful ride. The movie doesn't go overboard and captures your heart by the time the end credits roll. Also, you will never feel you are watching a movie as everything has been kept very real and closest to reality.

Even I had a thought of stop watching the movie in between but when the layers gets peeled you will understand the earlier slow treatment is the requirement of the movie. Yes, may be 10 minutes can be chopped off at the starting parts else it is a good watch. Try it out is all I can say.
