HELLARO:_ FOLK TALE

The Hellaro movie takes audiance to the culture of Kucth and provides holistic touch of our ancestors. The story shows journey of "Manjari" who led women of her village to revolutionary act of humanity. Movie has various characters with unique identity who entertains throughout movie.
Writer gave fabulous climax which thrills audiance with goosebumps. The climax does not necessarily have a conclusive end but there’s much to take away from the final performance.

Watching Hellaro, it’s not hard to see why this movie could be a festival-favorite. It highlights various issues in society such as patriarchy, casteism, and superstition, and presents them in a way that will connect with the audience.
You can sympathize with the women in the film and snort at the ignorance of the men who worship the goddess but disrespect the women in their lives. There’s also that one character who exists merely for comic relief and here, it is Bhaglo (Maulik Nayak), who intermittently provides comfort in this otherwise hard-hitting film.

What Could’ve Been Better:

Hellaro can be an uncomfortable watch for many who are ignorant of the issues the movie aims to bring to the limelight. Since the movie is set in the mid-70s,
some of the customs in the village may seem outdated but still happen to be the reality of many rural women in the 21st century.

Why You Should Watch:

Hellaro brings a poignant story to Indian cinema and complements it with captivating performances and brilliant choreography.
It provides both a good story with decent entertainment while highlighting pertinent issues that need to be addressed.
Everything in Hellaro is well researched and crafted, from costume to the dialect and from the detailing in the house to the background score.
Hellaro is pure, meticulous and thrilling.
Those extreme wide shots of Women doing Garba in dusky red in a long sterile deserts looks very alluring.
Cinematographers have successfully captured the minimalistic behavior and loneness of the females’ vs grandeur lifestyle of males’ in the same village.
The writing of the movie is so modest and yet layered that you can easily apprehend their troubles, desperation for rain and uphold patriarchy.
Even though the film is petite predictable after the first half it’s one of the best film made in Gujarati Industry for sure.
Must watch for every Kutchi ~ Community belongs to Kutch.

It is serious and slow movie with social message so you should not expect fun and comedy in movie. If you prefer to see our culture and past than go for it else avoid it.
